COCOAPINK's COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
CocoaPink is dedicated to supporting the effort for green conscious living. CocoaPink is constantly searching for sustainable solutions by using eco-friendly products whenever possible. Our commitment to morally driven business practices are key in how we hope to impact our surroundings. Examples of a few of our choices include investigating and evaluating our supply lines for crulety free ingredients that are certified NO ANIMAL TESTING materials. Another important example is our support of worldwide free trade companies and companies that sponsor community projects in struggling economies.
We also sacrifice materials that have a negative impact on our world, even if doing so compromises our profits. One example of this is our decision to discontinue using palm oil because of the destruction of rainforests by palm oil harvesting. We now use shea butter from a community outreach project. Shea butter is 4x more expensive, but we believe that the choices we make now must consider the future and our responsibility to that future, not just immediate profit.
Packaging
All printer paper, copy paper, invoices and shipping labels are 100% certified consumer recycled paper. We hope other companies will make this change as it is a small thing that makes a huge impact.
We will be moving away from wrapping soap in corn-based shrink film as recent research shows it is not completely eco-friendly. We will be converting to rice paper (no trees!!) that completely dissolves in the shower, leaving no waste and no mess. We hope to have this new packaging in use for the coming holiday season.
We wrap our luxury line soaps with handmade artsy paper from a company that supplies hand made paper from women in struggling economies. It is a company with high moral standards and the paper is handmade in the local tradition, outside in a factory-free environment with no enviromental damage.
All of our tissue paper and gift boxes are all made from consumer recycled materials.We are investigating various new paper options for paper made from sustainable materials.
Recycle/Reuse
Cocoapink has a container recycling program where customers are encouraged to reuse their containers and receive product discounts for doing so. This supports our efforts to reduce plastic waste. Additionally, we recycle all packing popcorn that we acquire from other suppliers. The popcorn we purchase is styrofoam free and made of corn starch. It dissolves in water, is bio-degradable, and completely non toxic.
Ingredients
We Only use natural colorants like micas and pigments. We do not use any pertoleum derived colorants. All our products are free from mineral oils, petroleums, and other petro products.
We put emphasis on supporting suppliers that share our ethical and moral visions. We also support small business and local suppliers when possible. We choose ingredients that are sustainable, bio-degradable, and ethical whenever possible. For example we do not carry products with real sandalwood because of the destruction of the forests in sandalwood harvesting.
We have replaced many of our ingredients with bio-degradable options, for example, our shampoo utilizes a brand new bio-degradable detergent and all of our butters and lotions utilize new bio-degradable, 100% vegan ingredients. We are constantly investigating some of the new manufacturing technologies targeted to the green markets.
We invest in renewable materials, like bamboo - instead of wood-based, and sustainable papers and fabrics, modern low energy lights, water heaters, and appliances - little changes that make large differences.
Future
As cocoapink expands, we will continue our commitment to earth conscious responsibility. Our ultimate dream it to one day be able to build a facility with the lowest carbon footprint possible.
